Event Description

Join the NY Forest Owners Association (www.nyfoa.org) on Wednesday, June 28th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm for an informative evening of watershed management at Heritage Pastures Farm in Nichols, NY.  This free event is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.  The tour will occur rain or shine and participants should expect to walk up to one mile in field conditions.  The farm is located at 2320 Stanton Hill Road in Nichols, NY and look for parking signs.  The tour will feature a variety of water quality improvement projects in the Upper Susquehanna Watershed that include new wetland construction, pond restoration, water retention for flood mitigation, riparian forest buffers and other water management improvements.  The work is supported by New York’s “Ag Non-Point Source” grant program through the Tioga County Soil and Water Conservation District.  A variety of local pond and water quality experts will be in attendance, so bring your questions on your own ponds and properties.  No registration is required, but questions can be referred to Brett Chedzoy of Cornell Cooperative Extension Schuyler County by email: bjc226@cornell.edu
