How to get rid of buckthorn

I have some property where the best timber was harvested several years before I purchased it.  There are now many areas where the buckthorn is so thick that nothing will grow under it.  I am looking for suggestions on how to get these areas back into timber production.  I don't have the cash to hire it cleared but being retired I do have time.  I guess what I am looking for would be best practices for getting rid of the buckthorn and promoting / planting more valuable species.  One specific…See More
