Event Description

This workshop will feature Dr. Bernard Sweeney and David Wise, from the Stroud Water Reseach Center.  Bernard will discuss the ecology of riparian buffers and their water quality benefits and David will cover the practical application of buffer design, tree and shrub plantings, use and management of tree tubes for herbivore protection.  Art Gover from PSU will cover weed control options, before and after planitng.  Don Leopold from SUNY ESF, will discuss native tree/shrub selection. A couple of case studies from NY and PA will be presented.  A field tour of the Big Flats Plant Materials Center will highlight studies on establishment and maintenance of tree/shrubs.  Other excellant speakers will also present on nursery stock, seed collection and handling, methods for establishment and care, weed control, and Forested Buffer Programs and grants.  Please register using the link below as well as for more info.
