THE CONTROL OF HAZARDOUS ENERGY — KNOWN AS "LOCKOUT/TAGOUT" (A course by W.J. Cox - Instructor — Peter Sformo)
Lo/To is a process in which you physically control all energy sources so that they can’t be accidentally turned on, moved, or caused to release stored energy in any way. The process covers the servicing and maintenance of machines and equipment.
Topics covered:
1. Identify who is authorized to perform Lo/To.
2. Develop written procedures for each piece of machinery or equipment.
3. Understand the exceptions to Lo/To.
4. Protective materials and hardware that are needed.
5. What the training requirements are.
6. Release for Lo/To.
7. Outside contractors – what both sides need to know.
8. Testing and positioning of machines, equipment and components.
9. Group Lo/To.
10. Shift or personnel changes during Lo/To.
11. Retraining, if necessary.
Participants are asked to please bring their owners’ manuals with them!
