Growing Better Forests for the Future

This popular annual field day will share the latest research, technology and experiences to help land managers cope with today’s challenges of sustaining world-class hardwood forest resources. Topics covered by experts from Cornell University, Cornell Cooperative Extension, SUNY ESF, and forest industry include:

  • Forest health and monitoring, including applications for novel technologies like terrestrial lidar and drones
  • The benefits of deer exclusion through slash walls (www.slashwall.info) and initial experiences with overstory removal harvests in successfully regenerated stands
  • Assessing carbon benefits of forest management systems and actions through Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)
