DESCRIPTION:The second webinar in the Northeastern IPM Center's tick I
 PM series will be this Wednesday, June 24, at 1:00 p.m. EST.\r\nDr. St
 ephen Rich, director of the Laboratory of Medical Zoology at the Unive
 rsity of Massachusetts, will discuss how to proceed when efforts to re
 duce sources of tick bites—or to prevent bites altogether—have fai
 led. He will• explain the feeding process and why timing is essentia
 l to disease transmission;• outline approaches for assessing the ris
 k of tick-borne disease (including an overview of known pathogens);•
  describe laboratory testing procedures for ticks and humans;• prese
 nt passive-surveillance database summaries and provide links for custo
