DESCRIPTION:The Foundation for Sustainable Forests fourth annual Lovin
 g the Land Through Working Forests conference featuring multiple in-t
 he-field programs will be held in western New York this year.\nThe con
 ference open with a speakers' program at 7 p.m. Friday, May 15 at Chau
 tauqua Institution. In-the-field sessions are all-day Saturday, May 16
  at a woodlot southeast of Sherman, NY. The in-the-field sessions are:
 \nKeynote Session -- New thoughts in forest management: Worst First an
 d treading lightly, a detailed explanation and on-the-ground examinati
 on of the Foundation’s recommended forestry approach. (2 ½ hours).\
 n]Legacy and Estate Planning for the Woodland Owner: An introduction/o
 utline of  estate planning & the need for woodland owners to plan for
  the future of land,  various ways to do that and conservation option
 s available to them. (1 hour 10 minutes)\nHorse Logging: Demonstration
  and discussion of the use of horses for logging to the benefit of the
  land and the economic factors. (1 hour 10 minutes)\nForests for Wildl
 ife/Forests for Us: Managing woodlots and forests for wildlife and wha
 t our forests offer. (1 hour 10 minutes)\nSessions run concurrently an
 d are repeated in the afternoon, although flexibility is built in to t
 he schedule to meet the needs and desires of participants. Lunch is pr
 ovided. To make it easier for families, children’s programming is ma
 de available throughout the day.\nThere is a nominal registration fee 
 of $10 per person for the in-the-field sessions and pre-registration i
 s required. Children under 14 are free, but need to be registered. The
  Friday evening speaker’s program is free and open to the public.\nF
