 tings\" on Monday, November 14 at 5:00 PM. Temperate nut trees have be
 en feeding New York for thousands of years. Nut trees can provide a m
 arketable crop, climate mitigation, and resiliency benefits when integ
 rated into contemporary plantings along with other crops. Samantha Bos
 co, Ph.D. (Cornell ’22) will present how chestnuts and hazelnuts are
  leading the way in NY for a new era of climate-smart agriculture. Che
 stnut and hazelnut basic growing requirements, design considerations f
 or alley cropping, silvopasture systems, and commercial industry prosp
 ects will be the main topics covered.  Samantha Bosco is the agrofor
 estry and nut cropping program planner for Cornell Cooperative Extensi
 on. She focused her doctoral research on the role of temperature nut t
 rees in Haudenosaunee food sovereignty and climate-smart agriculture i
 n what is today known as New York State. Bosco is a former Phipps Cons
 ervatory Botany in Action Fellow and current Agroforestry Program Work
