New Problem Found on N.E. Ohio American Beech

Folks,

Lasy year and agin in 2014, John Pgacnik, biologist with the  Lake Metroparks in Lake County (northeast Ohio) has found American beech specimens of all sizes, exhibiting foliar symptoms of dark venation and browning leaf margins. In less than a year, the tree is dead. Since leaf-out this year in 2014, beech trees in mature stands in Lake County, Geauga County, Ashtabula County and Cuyahoga county have been discovered. The Ohio State University extension has taken samples and are working on possible answers.
